Bring past to present with curriculum-based programs for school groups at the Okotoks Museum and Archives. Programs at the Okotoks Museum and Archives are 1.5 hours in length and include hands-on activities, games, role-play, storytelling and research.
From Rivers to Rocks – Significant Landmarks in My Community | K-Gr 1
This program highlights the naming of the Sheep River, Big Rock and history of the Historic Macleod Trail. Curriculum ties: SS & LA
Okotoks – Changes over Time | Gr. 2/3
This program looks at modes of transportation, changes in land use, changing population. Curriculum ties: SS, LA, Math (Gr 2)
Early Families | K/Gr.6
This program includes a variety of modules which can be adapted to most grades. Teachers can choose two modules per program.
Life of a Wife – a comparison of then and now, keeping the house, caring for the family – hands on activities
From Slates to Smartboards – education, then and now. Looking at changes for teachers and students.
From Farmer to Agricultural Specialist – looking at historic equipment, crops, animals and farming methods .
A Prairie Farm Family – stories about life on the farm, season to season roles of family members, celebrations and living life.
Okotoks Heroes| Gr. 4/5
This program highlights the stories of ordinary people who settled the Foothills. Curriculum ties: LA, Math, SS
After Confederation | Gr. 7
After Confederation – history of immigration, railway, NWMP, agriculture, oil and gas in the Okotoks area. Can be used as an introduction to classroom studies or a summary. Curriculum ties: SS 7.2.5

BOOKING A SCHOOL PROGRAM
Programs must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance by calling Jan at 403.938.8969 or by email.
Program fees: $50.00 per class (plus GST) for a 1.5 hour program at the Okotoks Museum and Archives.
