School groups are invited to experience art outside the textbook. With each new exhibition at OAG, curriculum-related programs are 1.5 hours in length and may include:
· Meeting and discussing art with the artists
· Learning the elements and principles of design, and learning how, when, why and if artists ever break these rules.
· Gallery tours, discussions and a hands-on art activity in our Artists’ Studio upstairs.

· Looking carefully at art work, including the space around it, above and below – the gallery as a whole; how a gallery differs from art at school or home.
· Learning about a wide range of artists’ techniques, materials, styles and themes through a variety of shows in a year.
· Sharing opinions, reactions and comparisons with others – learning techniques to create feelings.
· Sharing hands-on activities including making art, storytelling and writing about art.

Using and improving visual, analytical and critical skills when examining art.
· Discussing art based on the elements and principles of design.
· Discussing art based on impact of theme and transformation of themes over time and cultures.
· Exploring and practicing techniques experienced through viewing art in the gallery.
Revelation.Creation@OAG | High School Art Students
· Sharing reactions to art from an artist’s point of view and in relation to human emotions.
· Increasing art criticism skills and vocabulary related to examining art.
· Pushing own creations beyond personal comfort levels by being inspired through visual and verbal exposure to art in the gallery; developing individual styles.
· Reflecting on the influence of art in relating the history and predicting the future of mankind.

BOOKING A SCHOOL PROGRAM
Programs must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance by calling Jan at 403.938.8969 or by email.
Program fees: $50.00 per class (plus GST) for a 1.5 hour program at the Okotoks Art Gallery.
